The opening ceremony of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Congregation was held at Hatigaon on 26 October 2016, the concluding day of the spiritual retreat held for the religious women of the Northeast, organized by a team from Attapady, Kerala. The special day began with a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Archbishop John Moolachira of Guwahati, con-celebrated by Fr. Varghese Kizhakevely, the Vicar General of the Archdiocese, Guwahati. 

Sr. Elizabeth Packumala, the former Mother General in her introduction at the start of the Holy Mass spoke about the importance of the day and the pivotal role played by Venerable Stephen Ferrando, the founder of the MSMHC. 

At the brief gathering that followed the Holy Mass, Archbishop John Moolachira hoisted the jubilee flag and Sr. Philomena Mathew, the Superior General presented a brief history of the MSMHC’s founding days and officially declared the platinum jubilee of the Congregation open. The Congregation of MSMHC, founded on 24 October 1942 at Guwahati has its tale of a wonderful history. It’s testing time of the founding years and the period of struggles have been the time that it experienced God’s providential care. The Congregation kept growing since its inception and has launched out to many areas of Church’s mission.
