MSMHC Generalate is situated at Hatigaon, Guwahati, Assam. It is the residence of the Superior General and the General Councilors and a team of sisters who are engaged in different activities of the generalate, juniorate and sisters engaged in the mission of education. The initial stages of MSMHC The Congregation had taken shape at Guwahati in 1942 and had St. Mary’s Convent of the Salesian Sisters in Guwahati as its place of formation till March 1948. On 15 October 1954, the novitiate was shifted from St. Joseph’s Tezpur to St. Mary’s Convent, Barpeta Road a novitiate of its own. On 2 February 1955 Sr. Luigina Saletta fma, was appointed as the first Mother General of the congregation. The Novitiate and mother house was shifted to St. Margaret’s convent, Shillong on 09 March 1965 under the direct care and guidance of the founder. The Fourth General Chapter took the decision to build the new Generalate House at Hatigaon, Guwahati on 1988. It was Archbishop Hubert D’ Rosario SDB of Shillong who donated a plot of land at Hatigaon. The foundation stone of the House was laid in 1988. The house was blessed and inaugurated by Archbishop Thomas Menamparampil of Guwahati on 23 January 1993. The Congregation is founded for the work of Missionary Evangelization. And this the sisters carry out in all their apostolic and religious endeavors. All their efforts are geared towards the salvation of souls through missionary Evangelization and catechetical instructions.
